NEWS BYTES PORVORIM A two day  training on ground maintenance and machine operations was conducted at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim by Irrigation Products International Pvt Ltd under the auspices of Goa Cricket Association (GCA) on June 7 and 8 , 20222. The seminar was inaugurated by Prakash Mayekar - Director of Coaching and  Cricket Operations . Mr. Vipul Phadke Hon. Secretary of GCA initiated this training to train all the ground supervisors, machine operators, mechanics and groundmen. While addressing , Secretary Vipul Phadke  emphasised on the role of ground staff  in developing and maintaining grounds.  The ground staff were made aware of the importance of , effective working management, time management and operational management. Secretary also added that such training has more importance in present times since they help ground staff to know latest integrative techniques and working culture. During the  two day training , Irrigation Products International Pvt Ltd covered all the topics related to ground maintenance procedures and working. They also gave practical training to operators regarding operation, working and maintenance of various machines. Irrigation Products International Pvt Ltd explained various factors such as soil testing, water testing, weather on ground, uses of fertilizer, insecticide, pesticides, etc. have major roll to play in ground maintenance. They also provide necessary expertise and assistance to curators and ground keepers in developing an appropriate turf maintenance program throughout the year. Curator Mr. Suryakant Naik said that this is the first time in history of GCA that such workshop is organised for ground staff to understand working on maintenance of ground and it will be beneficial for all our ground staff.
