Dhoni pushes GCA to finish stadium in Desai’s tenure

GCA News Bytes Cricket' s limited overs versio captain of India MS Dhoni gave the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) the push to go forward and build their cricket staium so that international matches will once again be hosted in Goa. Speaking at the annual prize distribution function of GCA, Dhoni layed emphasis on the importance of tournaments to help nurture talent. Deputy Chief Minister Francis d'Souza,Water resources Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte were present for the function attended by most associated with the game in Goa. GCA president Chetan Desai and secretary Vinod Phadke welcome and proposed the vote of thanks respectively. "The government of Goa is behind presdient Chetan Desai and GCA in constructing the stadium in Thivim. I hope the project will be completed during this committee's term,' stated Water Resources minister Mandrekar in his address. The following awards were presented during the function: 2013-2014 premier league-Panjim Gymkhana and Seiko Club; 2014-2015 Premier league-Chowgule SC and Seiko Club;2013 C Division-United Cricket Club,mapusa and Porvorim CA;B Division-Politics cricket club and Paramount SC;A Division- La Paz Gardens Ccand youth SC Khandola. 2014-2015: C Division binani Glassand Global SC;B Division-Sunny SC and Union Cricket Club ,Mapusa;A Division winners-Karimabad SC and Iqbal XI Sc. Khalid sayed and Yeshwant Barde were awarded for their services as international umpires, Tracy Fernandes as physio and Shika Pandey for representing India from Goa.
