GCA News Bytes An inspired bowling spell by medium pacer Trishal Vijay Trivedi (6 for 50) enabled Uttar Pradesh to restrict Goa to 155 for 8 in 48 overs in reply to their 470 at the close of play in the first inning on the second day of the four day Elite Group D Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 cricket match being played at Margao Cricket Ground today. At stumps, at the close of the play, Goa were 155 for 8 with Vaibhav Govekar not out on 29 and Dheeraj Yadav not out on 7 at the crease and still needing 166 runs to avoid the follow-on with two wickets in hands. Goa chasing Uttar Pradesh's daunting 470, failed to negotiate the pace attack of the visitors and wicket fell at a regular intervals. Goa top five order batsmen fell with a score on 85. Except Vaibhav Govekar not out 29, Shivam Amonkar 28, Suyash Prabhu dessai 28, Ishan Gadekar 24, Tunish Gaokar 17 and Aditya Suryawanshi 14, no other host batsmen made any significant contribution and at the close of the play, Goa were 155 for 8 in 48 overs. Trishal Vijay Trivedi, who claimed six wickets conceding 50 runs obtained a vital breakthrough for his team. Earlier, the visitors, resuming their first inning with the overnight score of 358 for 4 with Sandeep Kumar not out on 28 and Kartikiya Khushwaha,kept the score board moving and added 49 runs for the 5th wicket before Kumar was out on 45. Ranga Rajan Dwiwedi, who joined Khuswaha, did not last last long and was out on duck after adding only three runs with the score on the board 6 for 405. After Kushwaha was out -with his individual score of half century plus( 59) laced with eleven hits to the fence- the score on the board read 7 for 447. Uttar Pradesh folded their first inning with a total score of 470 all out in 129.4 overs as the visitors last three wickets fell in quick succession. Uttar Pradesh added 112 runs to the overnight total of 358 today morning. Suyash Prabhu Desai, who claimed five wickets conceding 84 runs was the most successful bowler for the hosts. Dheeraj Yadav bagged 2 wickets giving away 112 runs.
