GCA News Bytes Goa lost to Hyderabad by six wickets in their second fixture of the league phase of the senior womens one day elite groupB at the panjim Gymkhana grounds on Thursday. Electing to bat first on winning the toss, Goa Eves succumbed meekly to be bowled out for 82. At one stage, the home team was tottering at 46/8 until Rupali Chavan joined in to plod patiently for 28 deliveries without scoring as the hard-hitting all-rounder Santoshi Rane mixed caution with aggression to stitch an exciting ninth- wicket partnership of 34 in 68 balls laced with four boundaries and one six all credited to the latter batswoman who compiled a delightful 39(65b). For Hyderabad, Indian internationals, S.K. Sravanti Naidu and Gouher Sultana justified their credentials with returns of 3-19 and 2-9 respectively, while Arundathi Roy took two sticks for seven runs. Having lost their first two engagements against Maharashtra and Hyderabad by 2 runs and 6 wickets respectively, Goa Women have to win both their remainder matches versus Bengal and Delhi to be held on November 21 and 23 respectively at MCC, Margao to entertain mathematical hopes of moving to the next stage.
