Haryana squeezes past Goa by 2 runs: Vijay Hazare Trophy
NEWS BYTES SURAT Goa were so near but, ended two runs short of beating Hyderabad in their concluding group match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy organized by BCCI at CK Pithawala ground in Surat on Sunday. Goa , once again won the toss , and opted to field allowing Hyderabad to amass 345 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted fifty overs . In reply, Goa boosted by centuries of wicket keeper KD Eknath and Snehal Kauthankar came within whiffs of recording their second win of the tournament only to fall short by two runs. Wicketkeeper KD Eknath was once again sent to open the innings for Goa and finished scoring 169 from 143 runs to lay a solid foundation. Snehal ┬áKauthankar scored116 from 112 but that was not enough as the other players fell short by two runs as Goa finished on 343 for 5 at the end of fifty overs. Hyderabad started their innings with their openers, Tanmay Agarwal and Tilak varma scoring 150 and 128 runs respectively. Lakshay Garg claimed two wickets for Goa conceding 60 runs in his stipulated ten overs. Darshan Misal was the third highest scorer for Goa with 13 runs from 6 balls and captain Amit Varma scored 12 from 11 balls. Suyash Prabhudesai registered 10 runs from six balls. Goa finished its campaign with four points with one win.
