UP pile up 358 for 4 against Goa

GCA News Bytes Propelled by masterly knock of 158 studded with (23 hits to the fence and a sixer off 185 balls) by Rinku Singh and a blistering century by opener Shivam Choudhary (104) and their 162-run partnership for the second wicket helped Uttar Pradesh pile up 358 for 4 in 90 overs against Goa at the close of the play on the first day of the four-day elite group 'D' Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 cricket match being played at Margao Cricket Ground in South Goa . At the close of the play, Sandeep Kumar (not out 28) and Kartikeya Kushwaha (not out 01) were at crease. After winning the toss, the visitors elected to bat, made a good start as Shivam Choudhary and Lakhan Arjun Rawat put up a good foundation yielding 85 runs for the first wicket before Rawat was out with the score on 1 for 85 ,on his individual score of 33. Later, Rinky Singh joined Choudhary and both played a sheet anchor role for the major part of the day and further consolidated the inning, putting a dazzling 162-run partnership for the second wicket toying with the hosts' bowling with ease and had no difficulty in negotiating the attack of the opponents and kept the score board moving. Both also completed their centuries. Choudhary was out after completing his century (104) laced with eleven hits to the fence off 193 balls, with a score on the board 2 for 247. After Choushery's exit, Priyam Garg joined Rinku Singh but Garg did not last long and was out after scoring only 22 runs adding 46 to the total with a score on the boared 3 for 293. Singh, who played a sheet anchor role, lost his cool when he was on his indivual score of 158 and was trapped leg before the wicket as he fell to Suyash Prabhudessai with the score on board 4 for 352. His 158 runs were studded with 23 fours and a sixer off 185 balls. At the close of the play, the visitors were 358 for 4 in 90 overs. Sandeep Kumar (not out 28) and Kartikeya Kushwaha (not out 1) were at crease. Suyash Prabhudessai was the most successful bowler for Goa, who claimed three wickets while giving away 52 runs. He was assisted by Deepraj Gaonkar who bagged one wicket while conceding 48 runs.
