news
Tripura were 247/7 against Goa on the opening day of their Elite Group C Round 6 match of the Ranji Trophy, at the MBB Stadium in Agartala on Friday. Tripura batsman Pratyush Singh was two runs shy of his maiden first-class century. Opting to bat on their home turf, Tripura lost opener SM Singha for just four after he edged it behind to Goa captain Sagun Kamat to give Lakshay Garg his first wicket. JR Bainik and NN Sen Choudhary then steadied the innings with a 60-run partnership before Garg returned to deny Bainik his half-century as he departed for 44. Tripura captain SK Patel added just 1 to the total and was dismissed by Krishna Das. Pratyush Singh then batted with a feeble middle order to remain unbeaten on 98 off 158 — his innings decorated with 10 boundaries and one six — as Harmeet Singh (39 off 56) offered good support. For Goa, Garg returned with three wickets in his 25 overs with an exceptional economy rate of 2.92, while Amit Verma snapped three for 56 in his 20 overs. Brief scores: Tripura 247/7 (Pratyush Singh 98*; Lakshay Garg 3/73, Amit Verma 3/56) versus Goa.
