GCA- MCC sign MOU to develop cricketing landscape of Goa
NEWS BYTES PORVORIM In a significant development for the cricketing landscape of Goa, the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) and Margao Cricket Club (MCC) have joined hands by signing a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement aims to bolster the growth of cricket in the region by allotting a dedicated ground for all-round cricket activities and establishing a long-term partnership between the two esteemed organizations. Under the terms of the MOU, the Margao Cricket Club has agreed to allocate a state-of-the-art cricket ground to the Goa Cricket Association. The ground, equipped with modern facilities and amenities, will serve as a hub for various cricketing activities including competitive matches, training sessions, and talent development programs. The agreement solidifies a commitment to nurturing young talent in the sport and elevating the overall standard of cricket in Goa. One of the key aspects of the MOU is the duration of the agreement. The ground has been allotted by Margao Cricket Club to Goa Cricket Association (GCA) for a period of Ten years, providing a stable platform for the players to flourish and promote cricket at various levels. This long-term commitment ensures that the infrastructure and resources provided will enable the GCA to create an environment conducive to the growth and development of players. Furthermore, the MOU outlines a collaboration between the GCA and MCC in the establishment and operation of a cricket academy. The Goa Cricket Association, renowned for its dedication to fostering cricketing talent, will work closely with the Margao Cricket Club to run the academy. This partnership will provide aspiring cricketers with unparalleled training opportunities, expert coaching, and exposure to high-level competitions. The tenure of the academy collaboration has been set for an impressive 20 years, reflecting the commitment of both parties towards nurturing cricketing talent in the region over the long term. GCA's vast experience and expertise in running successful cricket academies combined with the Margao Cricket Club's passion for the sport and local knowledge will undoubtedly create a thriving cricketing ecosystem. Speaking about the partnership, Mr. Rohan Gauns Dessai, Secretary of the Goa Cricket Association, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "We are delighted to join hands with the Margao Cricket Club in this historic endeavour. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to promote cricket in Goa. By providing the necessary infrastructure and coaching, we hope to unearth and nurture talented cricketers who can represent Goa at national and international levels, specially the young budding cricketers of South Goa. Mr.  Yogesh Naik, President of the Margao Cricket Club, echoed these sentiments, stating, "The signing of this MOU signifies a new era for cricket in Margao and Goa as a whole.
