NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Sunny Sports Club defeated Pirazona Cricket Club by 128 runs and Madkai Yuvak Sangh overwhelmed Bogda Cricket Club by 5 wickets in the Division B league (2021-22) organised by Goa Cricket Association (GCA) for North Goa and South Goa respectively on Saturday. Sunny SC won the toss and opted to bat and amassed 325 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 45 overs. Pirazona CC managed to score 197 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 45 overs to gift Sunny SC a 128 runs win. Sanket Morajkar shone for the winners with his 107 from 79 balls and was awarded the Man of the Match award for his heroics with the bat. Nawaz Shaikh of Pirazona CC scored 45 from 85 balls to finish as the second highest scorer of the match and his teammate Nikhil Naik finished with 39 from 36 balls to be the third highest scorer of the game. Babni Kulekar of Pirazona CC claimed 4 wickets in his 9 overs to end as the highest wicket taker of the day. Hemant Khot was the second highest wicket taker with his pair from 9 overs and it cost him 27 runs. Rajat Shet also finished with 2 wickets under his belt. In the second match of the day, Madkai Yuvak Sangh defeated Bogda Cricket Club by 5 wickets. Madkai won the toss and opted to field and bowled their opponents for 217 in 43.5 overs. The winners then scored 235 for the loss of 5 wickets in 36.3 overs. Felix Dias top scored for the winners with his 103 from 77 balls. Vishwajeet Gaonkar of Bogda finished as the second highest scorer with his 83 from 106 balls and his team mate Ajay Kewat scored 53 from 46 balls. Hari Sawant of Madkai was declared the Man of the Match for his four wicket haul from 9 overs. He cost his team 34 runs. Siddesh Naik claimed 3 wickets, also from 9 overs, whilst giving away 56 runs. Rathikindra Achyuth took 2 wickets.
