PORVORIM:
Goa Ranji Trophy cricket team is set for a promising phase in terms of growth in stature in the Indian domestic circuit with newly-appointed head coach
Krishnan Bhaskar Pillai is popularly known as KP Bhaskar, being the man to mastermind the transition with a long-term plan being worked out.
Goa Cricket Association (GCA) president Suraj Lotlikar underlined the vision, saying: "We should have such a coach for a long term to get necessary benefits for the team and not think about a short-term plan. Our goal should be to qualify and reach the Elite Group B in the coming years."
With over 15 years of coaching experience, the former prolific First-Class batsman is recognized for his technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence in working with professional cricketers and young athletes. His ability to read the game and adapt to changing situations is one of his key strengths.
GCA secretary Vipul Phadke emphasized KP Bhaskar's experience as an asset for the Goan Ranji team. GCA treasurer Paresh Phadte opined that the 58-year-old coach's experience can be utilized for the Junior teams as well when the Senior team is not in action.
With performance, experience, and man-management skills aplenty with then star-studded Delhi's ex-coach KP Bhaskar, GCA made the right decision in his favor. The following other candidates were also discussed: Sulakshan Kulkarni (Mumbai), Mansoor Ali Khan( Karnataka), Sandeep Dahad (Maharashtra), and Shaun Tait (Australia).
