NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Goa was 6 for the loss of no wickets in reply to Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP) who were bowled out for 266 on the first day of the Vijay Merchant Trophy being held at the GCA ground in Porvorim. Pondicherry won the toss and elected to bat and was at one stage 82 for the loss of three wickets . However, Akash Pugazhanti hit 118 from 183 to steady the innings. He was assisted by a 50 scored by opener Akash Kandukuri. Pradnyesh Gaonkar and Faizan Saiyed claimed three wickets each whilst Sanath Nevagi claimed two. Shreyash Usgaonkar took the other wicket. In reply, Goa were six for no loss at close of play. Izaan Shaikh was batting on two not out and Devankumar Chittem had yet to open his account.
