NEWS BYTE Porvorim Goa trail Cricket Association of Pondicherry by 86 runs on the second day of the Vijay Merchant Trophy match being held at the GCA ground, Porvorim on Thursday. Goa who began on their overnight score of six for no loss, scored 180 for the loss of five wickets at close of play. Pondicherry was bowled for 266 on day one of the contest. Opener Izaan Shaik scored 23 of 67 balls for Goa whilst Devankumar Chittem made 14 from 109 balls. Captain Arsh sardesai contributed 2 from 34 balls and it was Sanath Nevagi who brought in steadiness in the batting with his 62 runs not out from 183 balls. Veer Yadav who came in at the fall of the fifth wicket further consolidated Goa's innings with his 37 not out from 109 balls. Arjun Lakshmi and Nithiyanda Raman took two wickets for Pondicherry and Akash Pugazhanthi P claimed the other.
