GCA News Bytes Goa plays its first Ranji match against Hyderabad under the tutelage of newly appointed coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar on October 1 at the GCA Porvorim ground. The Ranji trophy is divided into three groups- A, B and C. Group A and B are known as the Elite Group. Group C is the played group and Goa has been featuring in this group. Goa, Hyderabad, SSCB (Services), Tripura, Himachal, Jharkhand, Saurashtra, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir are in group C. Goa plays four of its eight matches in Porvorim while the remaining four will be played in Himachal, Jharkhand, Rajkot and Jammu and Kashmir respectively. Goa will play against SSCB (Services), Tripura, Himachal and Kerala in Porvorim. The following are the fixtures: Goa v/s Hyderabad from October 1 at GCA grounds, Porvorim; Goa v/s SSCB from October 8 at GCA grounds, Porvorim; Goa v/s Tripura at GCA grounds, Porvorim from October 15; Goa v/s Himachal at GCA grounds, Porvorim; Goa v/s Jharkhand from October 30 at Jharkhand; Goa v/s Saurashtra from November 7 at Rajkot; Goa v/s Kerala from November 15 at GCA grounds, Porvorim; Goa v/s Jammu and Kashmir from November 23 in Jammu. Each Ranji tie is scheduled for four days.
