NEWSBYTE INDORE/MP Elite Group D table toppers Saurashtra defeated Goa by 90 runs to take an eight point lead over Madhya Pradesh in the BCCI organized Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at Holkar stadium in Indore on Friday. Goa who won their last match against Services remains third on the table with four points from three matches. Goa scored a hat trick of winning the toss and once again opted to field. Saurashtra scored 215 in the allotted 20 overs leaving Goa to score 126 to win. Saurashtra got of to a good start set by AA Barot who scored 122 from 53 balls and his onslaught was stopped by Darshan Misal who ran him out and was also responsible for the second Saurashtra run out of the evening. Samarth Vyas contributed 41 in 29 balls for Saurashtra. Goa wicket keeper KD Eknath was the top scorer for Goa with 32 runs from 30 balls. KD started his innings with intent but had to slow done his scoring pace as he started falling short of partners at the non strikers end . Captain Amit Verma scored 23 from the 18 balls he faced and last games top scorer Aditya Kaushik contributed 22 from 17 balls.Deepraj Gaonkar was the other batsman to have crossed the double digit mark with 14 runs from nine balls. Ashoke Dinda captured two wickets from Goa and Lakshay Garg the other.darshan Misal finished with two run outs.
