Goa loses to Maharashtra by 73 runs; finishes 4th: Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy

NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Goa lost to Maharashtra by 73 runs in the last round match of Elite Group A match of the BCCI organised Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tournament at the Bharat Ratna Atal B Vajpayee ground in Lucknow on Tuesday. Goa finished with eight points whilst Tamil Nadu finished on top of the table with 16 points and Maharashtra second with 16 points. Pondicherry and Odisha finished second last and last respectively with four points each. Maharashtra won the toss and opted to bat and scored 177 for the loss of three wickets in their allotted twenty overs. Y Nahar who was not out on 103 in 68 balls top scored for the winners. Shrikant Wagh and Amulya Pandrekar were the only two bowlers from Goa capable of claiming a wicket each. Shrikant gave away 25 runs from his four overs and Amulya gave away 29 runs in his 3 overs. Goa was bowled out for 104 in 18.1 overs. Shubham Ranjane once again top scored for Goa with his 35 from 30 balls faced by him and opener Snehal Kauthankar made 22 from the 18 balls he faced. Lakshay Garg was the third player from Goa to cross the double digit mark with his 11 from 10 balls.
