NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Goa women started their BCCI organised Womens Senior 1 Day Trophy scalping Gujarat Cricket Association by seven wickets ,through the VJD method, at the Dr PVJ Raju ACA Sports complex in Vizinagram on Thursday. Goa in the elite Group D of the tournament pocketed four points. Gujarat won the toss and opted to bat and were restricted to 135 for 7 in 47 overs. Three bowlers from Goa , Captain Shikha Pandey , Poorva bhaidkar and Rupali S Chavan finished with two wickets while Sunanda got the other wicket to restrict the Gujarat scoring machine. Captain Shikha Pandey finished with figures of 2 wickets in her stipulated ten overs sacrificing 25 runs and winning three maidens. Poorva Bhaidkar claimed two wockets in her 8 overs , conceding 29 runs and Rupali S Chavan also claimed two wickets from her 8 overs whilst conceding 17 runs. Sunanda finished with a wicket from her 10 overs and surrendering 18 runs. All the five batters from Goa crossed the double digit mark with Purvaja Verlekar ending as the highest scorer , being 56 not out after having faced 99 balls. Captain Shikha Pandey was not out on 22 after having faced 29balls. Tejaswini Duragad scored 32 for Goa from the 65 balls she faced and Shrey contributed 12 from the 18 balls she faced. Sunanda was the other batswomen with 10 runs from the 16 balls she encountered.
