Railways squeeze past Goa with 2 wkt win: Vijay Hazare Trophy

NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Railways defeated Goa cricket Association (GCA) by two wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy organised by BCCI at the JSCA International Stadium complex in Ranchi on Sunday. With this win , Railways has gone a step over Goa to the fourth spot of the Elite Group E whilst Goa has slipped a spot down. Goa won the toss and opted to bat and scored 241 for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted fifty. Wicket keeper KD Eknath top scored for Goa with 70 from 98 balls. Suyash Prabhudesai was the second highest scorer with his 55 from 45 balls. Aditya Kaushik scored 44 from 89 balls and Shubham Ranjane contributed 41 from 39. Captain Snehal Kauthankar was the other player from Goa who crossed the double digit mark with his 14 from 16 balls. Batting to score 242 for a win, Railways had to wait till the end to score 145 for the loss of 8 , scoring the winning runs from the last ball of the match. Shubham Ranjane was the highest wicket taker for Goa with figures of 3 from his ten overs. He gave away 34 runs. Amit Yadav captured two wickets surrendering 28 runs from his ten overs. Lakshay Garg, Amulya Pandrekar and Felix Alemao claimed one wicket a piece for Goa.
