GCA AGM moots for overall development of cricket in Goa

NEWS BYTES PORVORIM The Annual General Body Meeting of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) was held on 12th March 2023 at 10:30 am at GCA Porvorim. The meeting was addressed by Vipul Phadke ( President) , Rohan Gauns Dessai ( Secretary) and Daya Pagi ( Treasurer) and attended by Club members of the association and few  Life members and various important decisions were taken for the overall development of cricket in the state of Goa. The meeting began with the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting. The annual report and audited statement of accounts of the association were also received and adopted. The meeting also appointed statutory and internal auditors and fixed their remuneration. The GCA appointed senior and junior selection committees for both men's and women's cricket teams. Senior Mens :-

The association also amended its constitution in accordance with the order of the High Court dated 14th September 2022. The appointment of an ombudsman and ethics officer was also done. During the meeting, several other important issues were discussed. The association emphasized the overall development of cricket in the state by providing all required facilities and opening centres in all the talukas. The GCA also decided to focus on women's cricket in the state and announced the organization of the first women's premier league in Goa for women's enrolment in cricket. All the clubs unanimously proposed that the GCA should start working on the Dhargal cricket stadium as most of the approvals are already in place. The suggestion was unanimously approved by the members of the association. Also another cricket ground may be built at  Maulinguem Bicholim for development of Cricket was suggested by members The meeting concluded with the decision to suspend  Dr. Ketan Bhatikar as the medical director . The decision was taken as the clubs were unhappy with Dr. Ketan bhatikar who they said was time and again involved in activities which were detrimental to the interest of the association. Also the clubs requested the MC of GCA to initiate proceedings to recover prize money of GCL 2018 from him. Only four clubs in AGM voted in favour of Dr. Ketan Bhatikar. The Annual General Body Meeting of the Goa Cricket Association was a significant step towards the overall development of cricket in the state. The decisions taken during the meeting are expected to bring positive changes and will help in the growth of cricket in Goa.
