NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Pilerne Cricket Club beat United Cricket Club of Mapusa by 3 runs in the North Zone B Division league match organized by Goa Cricket Association (GCA) at the Academy ground in Porvorim on Thursday. United CC won the toss and asked Pilerne CC to bat and the latter went on to score 258 runsfor the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 45 overs. United Cricket Club of Mapusa took on the chase with earnest but fell short of their target by 3 runs , ending on 255 for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of their stipulated 45 overs. Swapnil Shirodkar of Pilerne CC was declared the Man of the Match for his 66 runs from 82 balls. However, it was Dishank Misquin who finished with the highest score of 74 from 84 balls faced. Vardhan Misquin of United Cricket Club was the third highest scorer of the day with his 59 from 60 balls. Umesh Govekar and Alekh Devari of Pilerne CC took 2 wickets apiece along with Dishank Misquin of United CC. Meanwhile, in the C Division match, MPT SC won over Manguirish Youth Club by 127 runs. MPT who was bowled for 209 in 40 overs managed to restrict Manguirish to 82 all out in 21.1 overs. Shivshankar Mallah of MPT was declared the Man of the Match for his 6 wicket haul in his allotted 8 overs. He conceded 13 runs.
