NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Goa Cricket Association (GCA) trails Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) by 49 runs as a 6 wicket haul by Lakshay Garg and 4 by Amit Yadav helped the former bowl the latter for 163 in 52.4 overs in their first innings on the first day of the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy match organized by BCCI at the Narendra Modi stadium ground ‘B’ in Motera on Thursday. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat and Goa restricted them to 163 with Lakshay and Amit bowling them out in 52.4 overs. Lakshay claimed his 6 wickets in 14.4 overs bowled by him and he conceded 46 runs. Amit took his 4 wickets in 17.4 overs and gave away 47 runs. At end of first day play, Goa was on 114 for the loss of 2 wickets in 33 overs. Opener Amogh Desai was not out on 51 from 106 balls and captain Snehal Kauthankar was batting on 16 from 25 balls. Sumiran Amonkar was out on 6 and Suyash Prabhudesai had to return to the pavilion after scoring 40 from 45 balls.
