Punjab dents Goa’s progress: Mens U-25 State A Trophy

NEWS BYTES PORVORIM Goa Cricket Association’s (GCA) good run in the BCCI organised Mens U-25 State A Trophy was halted by Punjab who beat the former by 45 runs at the Alur Cricket stadium in Bangalore on Sunday. Railways have qualified for the semifinals. Goa opted to field after winning the toss and the lads from Punjab mustered 235 for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Goa , in return , were bowled out for 190 in 48 overs. Mohit Redkar was the most successful bowler for Goa, claiming four wickets from his 10 alloted overs and giving away 43 runs. S A Mishra and Nihal S both claimed two wickets a piece surrendering 34 and 50 runs respectively in their alloted 10 and 9 overs respectively. Avishkar claimed the other wicket from his five overs. Dheeraj Y top scored for Goa with his 41 from the 46 balls faced by him. Avishkar finished as the second highest scorer for Goa ,scoring 29 from 64. Mohit Redkar who claimed four wickets contributed 20 runs with the bat from the 24 balls he faced. Manthan Khutikar scored 15 from 18 balls and Aditya Suryawansh scored 14 from 42 balls he faced.
